About the Yeshiva

Background and History

Few experiences leave as profound and lasting an impact as living and learning Torah in Eretz Yisroel. With this conviction, Rav Henoch Leibowitz zt”l, the renowned Rosh HaYeshiva of the Rabbinical Seminary of America (the “Chofetz Chaim” Yeshiva of Queens, New York), made the decision to establish a branch in Yerushalayim in 1968. As one of the first American yeshivas in Eretz Yisroel, his goal was to create a makom Torah where young men could fully immerse themselves in Torah and mussar while experiencing the kedusha of the land.

The founding Rosh HaYeshiva, Rav Moshe Chait zt”l, alongside the Mashgiach Rav Avraham Kanarek zt”l, shaped and guided the yeshiva for over four decades. Their leadership directly impacted thousands of talmidim and, through them, countless communities worldwide.

Today, under the direction and guidance of our current roshei hayeshiva, the yeshiva continues to flourish as a thriving Torah center.

Modeled after the famed Slabodka Yeshiva, the yeshiva’s mission remains steadfast:

  • To teach Torah and to give over the tools to grow in iyun through analytical and interactive shiurim
  • To inspire personal growth through mussar shmuessin and va’adim, fostering self-reflection and character refinement
  • To instill a strong hashkafa, cultivating a “Ben-Torah” outlook and a sense of responsibility to utilize one’s unique strengths for the betterment of Klal Yisroel

Central to the yeshiva’s vibrant atmosphere is the close rebbe-talmid relationship and the strong sense of achdus among talmidim, generating an energy and warmth that define its unique character.

Our students are highly motivated, English-speaking young men from the U.S., Canada, and Israel—ranging from recent high school graduates to third-year beis medrash students.
